Question about fibroid size

I've seen a lot of you referring to your fibroids as 12-week, 22-week sizes etc...I'm assuming this means the size of your uterus if you were actually pregnant and not carrying around fibroids!

My doctor told me that my uterus is about 1 1/2 x's the size it should be. Does anyone know what that would translate to in weeks/size? Just curious!

Sorry I can't help much, but mine was 7 times the weight it should be and my uterus was the size of someone 12 weeks pregnant.

I'm not exactly sure what the "normal" size is but my uterus was 15x15x8 cm and 1,070 grams. My Dr called it "massive" and 20 week size. I had multiple fibroids measuring from 2 to 14 cm.

You're correct. The number of weeks refers to how big your uterus would be if you were pregnant. The uterus should be the size of your fist (or about 6 oz). Mine weighed 1.5 pounds and was the size of a 16 week pregancy. I'm sure if you asked, your doctor would translate your measurements for you. I was confused to and then finally just asked.

My largest fibroid was measured at 5 months. Yes, I said 5 months. It was the size of a basketball. I also had several others that were smaller but still big. That was over 15 years ago when I had them removed. Today...they're back and causing lots of problems. I'm like a lot of women on here...confused about which procedure to have. I just want the surprise bleeding to stop, pain and pressure and all the other symptoms that go along with it. I'm so glad I found this website.
