dVH/RALH: Got my da Vinci hysterectomy!

Wow, I'm so glad I took the advice of people and got more than one consultation with a doctor. On the third try, I finally found someone in Detroit who will do a da Vinci hysterectomy on my large fibroids! At least he gave me the thumbs up for it, and I pray I won't be a conversion. He says he's done a hundred of these and only converted to TAH about twice, so that's pretty good odds. The first da Vinci doc I saw wouldn't even consider the operation that way. There is such a HUGE difference in the skill-sets of these physicians, it really pays to shop around.

My surgery date is March 7th, and I am lucky that they are going to do pre-op on the same day, so I don't have to go back twice. (It's an hour 1/2 drive.) I stay one night, and with positive expectations, done!

Such a relief to be given a shot at the lesser of two evils. But at this point, I REALLY want it out. Feels like a bowling ball in there. 6 1/2 weeks seems like a long time from now. I might even do TAH cheerfully at this point.

Hello, I had my DaVinci procedure yesterday, and am home and doing great.
Just wanted to wish you both luck.
I also had fibroids, so it feels good to know they're out of there.

Best wishes to you on your upcoming surgery. I will hit the six month anniversary of my da Vinci surgery January 24. I am so glad I did it this way, and have never felt better. Just remember to take it easy for awhile. I had fibroids and an enlarged uterus, which my surgeon said was bigger than a football, so how he did it - I don't know - but I'm sure glad he did!
