Tomorrow's the day and I need to vent

Well, I had my Pre-Op's yesterday. Went over all the paperwork with the doc, discussed (in detail) the surgery (LAVH/RSO), went over the bowel prep (just a Fleet's if I don't have a good BM and a lite dinner), and touched on the post-op restrictions. Then I went over to the hospital and did the bloodwork, more paperwork, and more discussion. I felt sort of numb last night, almost as though this was happening to someone else. But I had some doozies of dreams last night-very vivid and weird.

Today I get to finish off the laundry, pack my bags, pick up the last of the supplies from the store, and just try to keep myself from going nuts.

I was so excited to get this done, to have the possibility of my life back...so why am I so scared today? I feel like crying (but that could be because they had me stop my progesterone treatment last night too, lol). I'm sure it's normal, but today I just want to run away and never return! Wow, that kinda sounds a bit crazy, doesn't it?

One funny thing did happen yesterday though. At the hospital, the pre-admit nurse was asking me what I knew about the surgery and was very impressed with the knowledge I spouted....she asked where I got the information and I told her "HysterSisters!"...she wrote it down to pass on to other hyster patients....lol

Well, thanks for letting me vent. I've got a feeling I'll be on the site alot today!

I know the feeling of wanting the surgery done to get your life back, but being scared witless at the same time. I am 11 weeks post op from a TAH and I have to tell you, it was the best decision I ever made. I feel absolutely wonderful. I can't believe it's already been that long since my surgery. I was terrified before my surgery and a complete nervous wreck the day before. Just know that in no time, you'll be on the other side and feeling great. This site has been a great blessing to me as well. Take care and I'll say a prayer for you and your surgery tomorrow. :-)

I know exactly what you are feeling, but don't worry, you are well informed as to what will be happening.....before you know it, they will be taking you to your room....I just remeber waiting to go to surgery, wheeled in there and didn't even look around and thats the last I remember, don't even know when they gave me the knock out drugs?? Have no clue as to recovery either, was I really there?? Surgery was at noon and I was in my room at 4:00.

I was also very suprised about the pain, thought it would be much, much worse, wasn't that bad at all. I only took pain meds for 3 days after I was home, its been 3 weeks Tues and I went back to work after having a TAH/BSO, so not bad at all.

I will be awhile yet before I'm working my regular shift and 40 hours, but we have to start slowly and sitting around was driving me crazy.....cleaned a lot of drawers, closets, read 4 books, watched tons of movies, OY...
