3 days post-op

Hello you Lovely Ladies! I am 3 days post-op. The surgery was LAVH, fairly routine although there was a cyst on my ovary that they left alone, as well as a cyst on my fallopian tube that they removed. I came out of anesthesia and was in a lot of pain. The nurses were very sweet and helpful and addressed it quickly. By the evening I was taking vicoden and had "drank" my dinner. I have noticed that as long as I keep up with the pain meds (Vicoden every6 hours with tylenol every three) I am pretty comfortable. I am very blessed and my husband took this week off to take care of our 9 children. My mother is babysitting us next week. The "nothing over 10 pounds" rule is a tricky one because I have a 25 pound 19 month old. I have been determined to keep my butt firmly on the couch and in bed for the first 2 weeks. I have been drinking lots and getting up frequently to walk around the house. I am struggling with not doing my usual stay at home mom thing and take care of everyone. It is hard to watch the older kids and my husband get frustrated trying to do what I always do. It would be so much easier to just get up and do it. But thankfully my hubby is being very good about taking over. I am periodically struggling with the finality of everything. I will do ok and then it just hits me. I have had more than a couple crying episodes. I hope that this will get easier. I think that I just have to allow myself to grieve. I am praying for all of you! God bless!

Re: 3 days post-op

It will get easier. Be patient with your healing. Don't rush it. And no matter how much you itch to want to do things. Don't Rest as much as possible, drink plenty of water, eat healthy foods, and walk often like you are already doing. Gradually increase it each day and listen to your body. Stay ahead of the pain, take your pain meds when scheduled. Don't wait until the pain gets really bad before taking it.
As your username states you are beyond blessed. Let your willing husband and kids and your mom take care if you. You are going to have to overlook a lot of stuff, because nobody does it like you or as good as you ;-) but it'll be okay. You just heal.

All of the emotions that you are experiencing are completely normal. Yes allow yourself to grieve the finality of it and when you're ready, you'll accept it. And eventhough you kept your ovaries, they need a little time to recover from the surgery also. Your hormones will level themselves out in time.

I can imagine that it's a little hard not being able to pick up the little one, but you'll learn to be creative and figure something out without lifting. You may want to also watch your stomach when he or she wants to climb on you also. You'll be okay.

I pray that you have continued success in your recovery

Lots of ((HUGS)) to you
