hormone suprise when I kept ovaries

Thanks ladies! I made the mistake of only reading the pre-op portion of this sight and really didn't realize that this would happen to me since I was having the "easy hyster". The really scary thing (and why I posted it) was because for the first ten hours or so, I didn't think anything was wrong. I really thought my husband wanted to spend more time with the neighbor and taking a poop more than me. If I would have been a more "spontanous" person, that day could have really got ugly.

Good luck everyone!

hormone suprise when I kept ovaries

I have been having hot flashes and night sweats and I kept both my ovaries so I thought I was going crazy. My DH who has been taking great care of me woke me up the first night at home because he thought I had peed in the bed. The bed was soaked, I was soaked, he was soaked, it was really bad.

I, too, thought I was going crazy and thought everything would be back to normal just because I kept my ovaries...wrong!! I started having crying spells 2 days after surgery. I'm an emotional person anyway and I thought this is just me. When I went to my 2 week post op appointment, my doctor said this is normal. He said that the ovaries get their blood supply cut off during the surgery and they just need time to get the blood going again and with time the hormones should even out. Good luck to all of us experiencing this and hopefully we'll all be back to normal soon.

Thank you for posting this. I haven't had this yet, but maybe I will remember for when I'm in my 'paranoid' time. I didn't know others could be that way. I still have the ovaries, so I don't know if I'll still have that, but I was laughing and crying reading it, because I so know those emotions.

I honestly think my saving grace is that I am already on Paxil for anxiety and depression and Depakote (a BiPolar med) for cluster headaches. So with these so strong in my system, I had a great backup against some of the major emotional struggles. As I said I did get a strong dose of PMS which caught me off guard, and the hot and cold flashes.

But, then at 35, the doc already told me 2 yrs ago I was perimenopausal.

Hope you all get some relief soon!
