anything can happen

Just a note. I complained a few weeks ago about a canker in my mouth that was not going away. All developed after surgery. I went to my dentist and it appears that I most definetly had some sort of trauma to my gums and the only way that could have happened was during the intubation process.

He said it was kind of like something took a bit of a bite out of my gums. It will take quite awhile longer to regenerate the gums, so I will have that weird ongoing feeling on one side of my mouth for awhile. Chewing on one side, tongue probing....stop.

It just goes to show you, you never know what might happen while you sleep. But in the big picture that ain;t so bad.

Anesthesia did make me sign a waiver about possible oral damage, ie knocked out dental work and such. I can see why. There was a resident present with the Dr, maybe I was his first.(ugh) He certainly had trouble getting the right size needle when they went to hook me up to my IV. That was not pretty either. I almost smacked him then. lol
