Post Op Pain

My surgery was on the ninth (uterus & right ovary removed laproscopically). I had my stitches out this past Thursday & began my hormone spray. For the past couple of days, I have been having sharp pains on the lower right side of my abdomen approximately where my right ovary and tube were removed (my left ovary was removed years ago). Any ideas what this could be? And what is the best way to deal with constipation?constipation

Re: Post Op Pain

There will be internal stitches where your ovary was removed, so that is probably the pain that you are feeling. Even after 2 and half months, I still occasionally feel sore on the side where my larger ovary was removed (it was the size of a softball).

I still take 2 stool softeners every day, and drink lots of water, eat a high fibre diet. There are threads on here that deal with constipation, and lots of sisters have discovered what works for them. You might want to check it out, and if you don't get the info you are looking for, start another thread with requests for help for constipation.

Re: Post Op Pain

Sorry you are having pain - You might want to call your surgeon just to ask what they think. Re: constipation, Miralax has worked great for me (also eating prunes), it's very gentle, no cramping, tasteless so you can add it to anything, even water. I hope you feel better asap!!

SMOOTH MOVE tea ( at whole foods ) has been enormously helpful to me as a supplement to softeners. Cut my elimination pain ( and time ) by 80 - 90 %

Thanks! I will have to give that a try. Yesterday was horrible. I finally took an ExLax which always makes me cramp (which is not a good thing right now). This is worse than dealing with the pain from surgery!

I still have some gas pain, but it's right before I need to void...

Good luck!
