Just got home and scared

I was wondering if anyone had alot of tenderness in the area just below the belly button after your TAH. I am wondering if it is normal or if I may be doing too much.

Me too. Cheerios every morning for me...or at least sometime in the day. Another thing I found right before surgery and decided to buy it was FiberSure from the makers of metamucil. I put some of this in my cereal to. It's a powder form but has no taste, to grit...can't tell it's in there but it gives me extra fiber. Other than the first 2-3 BM, I've been doing fine as long as I have my cheerios and fibersure.

QUOTE=NunuT]Hey sisters, one thing that had helped is having a bowl of whole grain cereal every morning, I used to suffer from constipation anyways but noe I have learned the inportance of just a bowl of whole grain cereal can do, plus drinking juice water and decaffinated green tea for the gas is great. I also have a small dog and ever since I got home he has been with me all the time, even when I'm in the shower he seats in the floor until I come out, so yes they do know your are not feeling normal like before so they are there for you, they are great. I made sure I asked my husband to get him one of those good chewing bones for being so dedicated to me! Have a great recovery everyone![/quote]

Hi Lisa,
Yep, got the tenderness below the belly button and above the surgical incision. I am 6 weeks post-op and if I do too much walking or bending it sure gets sore. I have put ice packs on the area and that seems to help along with taking some Advil or Motrin. Its takes a while for that to go away, I am told. Take it easy Lisa, your just a few weeks post-op and if you do too much that area really gets uncomfortable. But its normal as I have been told. Keep the faith. Hugs from me to you. Susan

Yes, I had tenderness. Be good to yourself and don't do too much. For any constipation, I recommend a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats in skim milk at bedtime. And peppermint tea.

I'm sending you a !! It must be very hard to have everything happen so quickly. I'm 47 and have had fibroids and problems for the past five years or more. Even so, I thought about the decision to have the hyst for a full year once I found out it was an option (I wasn't real good about getting my "yearly" apt. so I didn't even know I was a good candidate for surgery). I hope as everything settles down you will be at peace with all that has happened. Know that this site is a great place for encouragement! I'll be praying for you. Sending your way.

I had my TAH on the 15th too and I still feel tender around that area. Does your incision site feel numb too, mine does. I worried about over doing things ,it's hard to just sit and watch the world go on around you isn't it?

sorry to hear about your diagnosis as well. Isnt it just frightening? I just couldnt believe the words coming out of the docs mouth. My husband is acting really weird. I am thankful he is doing the shopping, asking if I need things but wont really talk to me at all about anything. Its just strange. I want to cry but it hurts so bad.
I had my mum go get me some gas x and so far so good. I have been putting an ice pack on my incision when it feels like its burning.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi Mishay, I'm sorry that you are feeling nervous. I was too, when I went to have the staples removed ,but it wasn't that bad was it? I had a couple of steri strips but haven't got them anymore. My incision just feels numb. I can't bear the thought of anyone going near it can you? I think I am a week on from you. Take things sowly. I found Peppermint tea is great for wind.
