Should I be worried?

Hi Sisters, I am nearly 3 weeks post op and completely forgot myself and picked up the dog, she weighs 24lbs!! I don't feel any different but worried that I might have done some damage. How will I know and is there anythinhg I can do right now to reduce the risk of any damage? PS The dog is fine LOL!!

Should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry too much. If you don't feel any different, then you probably didn't hurt anything...you'd probably know if you did some damage! It's hard to remember sometimes when you're feeling pretty good...I'm sure we've all done the same thing at one point in our recovery! I know I have! If you start hurting or feeling bad, just rest for a while and if it doesn't get any better, call your doc! Good luck!

Should I be worried?

Agreed. If there is no increase in bleeding or pain, I would say no harm done. I did the same thing today with my 28 pound mutt, lol. I don't have any problems that I've noticed, but I surely will not do that again!

Should I be worried?

Thank you both for that reassurance. I'll try and behave from now on.

Should I be worried?

I'm glad that you didn't hurt yourself!

My dog (border collie) weighs 71 lbs!! What a tubby! I couldn't even try to pick him up!

Hope you heal up well, and soon!

Should I be worried?

The thing was when my dog had her hysterectomy the only instructions were not to let her jump on the furniture for the first 48hrs and not to let her run off the lead until she had her stitches out!! ROFLOL!!!

Should I be worried?

Pretty soon after being released from the hospital, I picked up a baby and didn´t put him down until his mother (a nurse) said to me "are you supposed to be doing that yet" and I got really scared. Got a little achy. I also had to shovel snow after I started working again, in order to drive out from my yard, and had to carry heavy loads at work. Developed aches and other sensations again. I was convinced something was torn and bleeding inside. Now 8 weeks after, a doctor told me to still avoid lifting heavy things, but these activities hadn´t worsened my condition physically. You have to be careful, though. Twice I have been in stores, seen an old person dropping something on the floor, unable to reach it, and - without thinking - I went and picked it up for them. My tummy didn´t like it. So watch yourself as you keep on forgetting yourself.
