LSH: 3 Weeks post-op, what exercise is ok?

I'm exactly 3 weeks post-op today with my LSH & LSO. I had my 2 week appointment last week and he lifted many of my restrictions. But was told when I hurt, to stop and rest.

The only thing I can think of is walking. I don't want to do any lifting or bending, but feel like a blob that only eats and rests Prior to surgery I exercised 5-6 days a week so was very active. This inactivity is driving me bonkers LOL!

My friend mentioned Pre-Natal Yoga, as strange as that seems. So I borrowed her DVD and see they still have lots of bending and stretching in it. I'm leary of doing that.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks so much!! Oh, I'm 34 years old, if that makes any difference.

Re: LSH: 3 Weeks post-op, what exercise is ok?

I was in the boat as you. Tired of just walking, I was use to exercising. I use to lift weights, arobics and bellydancing. I bought the New Dawn Pilates from the hyster store. The sections are broken down, so you can exercise the only parts you want to. It also has a program that you exercise from a chair, which I used a lot in the beginning, its only 9 min long, so you can do it acouple times of day if you want to and not tire yourself out or make yourself sore. You can build up to doing the whole workout, I did and I found how muscle I lost during recoperating. Good Luck.

Wow thanks! I never thought of checking the store on here! I really appreciate it And yes, it's hard going from very active to very inactive. LOL! I really love Zumba too, but know I won't be able to do that anytime soon

Thanks again!

Re: LSH: 3 Weeks post-op, what exercise is ok?

I had my LSH Dec 28. Started walking 1 week post op (outside around the block and treadmill with very light weight training) and jogging (light) about 2.5 weeks post op at which point I upped my weight training. By 4 weeks I was close to normal although slightly slower on sprints. I was very active before surgery. I remember feeling little tug like pulls but would slow down. No issues since.
