When does the first bowel movement come?
My surgery was on late Monday afternoon and by Tues early afternoon I had my first .... you cant believe how much better your tummy feels after you go .... I was given Miralax (tasteless powder in whatever I drink) at the hospital and I used 1 suppository and wal-lah. My Dr gave me a percription for the Miralax and I have been having a coctail mixed with hot tea once a day in the eve .... I have not had a problem at all. Trust me girls .... a lot of your tummy pains is because you need a BM. Good luck to all of you and to your fast recovery!

When does the first bowel movement come?
I pooped on Friday before going to the castle, took colace, metamucil, and Prunestart Juice, ate lots of fruit, and pooped on Monday. So, three days for me. I didn't really hurt. Mostly just fear.

When does the first bowel movement come?
So funny reading everyone's post! Especially about passing gas ~ it sounds like something I would do!
I just got home last evening from Tuesday surgery. Had first tummy rumblings last night and was afraid of the gas pains so I took some more gas-x and it went away. Getting out of bed this a.m. to go to the bathroom though I propped myself on the side of the bed to get up and just as I pushed up ~ WOW! Boy that was loud ~ and my mom and I just died laughing!
I haven't had any feelings like I need to have BM yet and dr. didn't send me home w/ any instructions on taking anything for going. We're trying to call now (they're at lunch) to see if I should be taking at least a stool softener. They gave me 2 at the hospital. I don't think it could hurt; but I had battled w/ IBS (sometimes w/ constipation) before surgery. Don't know if symptoms will change now or not.
Anyway, I'm rambling. Seems the percocet does that to me!
SisterAngel: LOOK AWAY FROM THE DISHWASHER!!!
Y'all are great for my spirits! Will check in again later!

When does the first bowel movement come?
Hi Tink....lol, oh the funny poo and gas stories....glad we all can make some light of all this we're going through.
I am being a good girl. I did not unload or load any dishes into the dishwasher. I left those for hubby when he gets home.
Speaking of gas..LOL, I am staying downstairs here where it's easier for me...last night hubby said he heard me clear upstairs passing gas..he said he was impressed LOL. He laughed at my awww sounds after too LOL. But it felt soooooooooooooo good when you can rid of some gas huh?
Good luck and hope you continue feeling good.
Hugs

When does the first bowel movement come?
Well since we are talking about BM I had a really bad time going to the bathroom and still do. Nothing really worked for me for 5 days and I call the Docs office and they have me dulcolax which help but the pain was terrible I think everyone in the neiborhood heard me screaming. Know I am afraid of the dulcolax so I am feeling blotted again have not use the bathroom in a couple of days, dont know what else to do.

bm pain subject
Melshaho
You know the little pink pill they usually give postop (colace), dont give up on that. As far as I know post op patients are not supposed to "strain". There is enough discomfirort, I personally use the stool softner dulcolax, with colace (dr. ordered) and if I go three days without a bm at all then I take a sip of mom. (milk of magnesia) I suspect its like dulcolax. Please let your dr. know, the dolcolax produced, but was excruciating....ask her next what to do, how many days post op are you, and do you have a fever?.....There are so many factors, but this I can promise the doctors are usually full of solutions, but YOU HAVE TO LET THEM KNOW!!!!

When does the first bowel movement come?
Mine occured on day 5. Stool softeners didn't seem to help so I had purchased a small bottle of strawberry MOM just in case. That chased with a bit of cranberry made quite a cocktail. Also, grapes have always been my nemisis, causing me to "go". So I had a few grapes and a bran muffin for breakfast.
Talking about the flatulance....I have noted since the rectocele my gas passing is really different. I don't have to work so hard, so to speak. My hubby says the Dr gave me more womanly "sneekers" ....that would clear a room!

When does the first bowel movement come?
Hi girlfriends!
Still nothing doing in the BM department!! I want to go!! I'm trying to relax and not think about it but it doesn't seem to help. Knowing that I've always had to strain anyway before I think is whats really scarring me now.
We talked to the dr and they said yes to take an over the counter stool softener but I think DM has forgotten to get it and I had forgetten to ask about them until this a.m. DH is going to stop at store and pick some up from me.
OMG and you know what else? It actually hurts to pass gas now. I mean it feels good to get it out, but it actually coming out is very forceful (I'm not forcing or straining it either) and painful. Now I know that is way
Keep your fingers crossed that today is the big day! Or at least tomorrrow. From reading others post, it seems like I'm still okay being 4-5 days out. Isn't this funny? I'm actually asking y'all to cheer me on to POOP!!!! What a wonderful site!!!
