bladder leakage?

Hi everyone...this site is unbelievable..I just had my ovarian cancer removed and a vaginal hysterectomy leaving only my left overy...My question is, has anyone had urine leakage afterwards (is this normal) or should i call the Dr. on Monday. Im actually having to wear a kotex because it is leaking all the time...especially when i bend or go up m3-4 stairs...And the pain in my abdomen is unreal....How long does the pain last?? I was in the hospital for 4 days and have had only a little vag. bleeding. Im more concerned with the leakage. I did have a bladder infection before the surgery but I took all the medication before and it was cleared up....Thanks so much for any responses!! Take care..Jen

bladder leakage?

I would think to call the dr., that does not sound good to me. I don't have leakage but I have noticed that I can't stop midstream. It's like once I start have to wait for the last dripple. Hopefully as I heal this will stop!

bladder leakage?

Hi Jen
Welcome to Hystersisters! I don't think the leakage should be considered normal. I would give your dr a call first thing Monday morning. Were you having it in the hospital? I didn't have it, so I can't speak from experience but I know some women have this problem and it clears up on it's own, but you need to make sure you don't have a fistula or some other situation that needs repair. There is a pretty basic explanation of what this is at this Link to the Mayo website.
Hopefully it will be something more simple than this, but you should definitely go have it checked out.

You are still very early post op, but you should be able to control your pain with meds and by not doing too much. Your body will let you know what is too much. You should be mostly resting right now, with some walking but not enough to cause you a lot of pain. If you can't think of anything you have done to cause the extra pain it could be an indicater of something else going on. Some discomfort is normal, but intense pain shouldn't happen very often if at all.

I think a call to the dr is in order here. Let us know what your dr says.

's, Rita
