Home And Feeling Good!!
I HAD MY TAH/BSO ON AUGUST 2, AND I AM FEELING PRETTY GOOD. REALLY GLAD IT IS OVER. I HAD TO BE AT THE HOSPITAL
AT 9:30AM AND THEY DIDN'T TAKE ME BACK TO SURGERY UNTIL
4:30PM THAT WAS A LONG WAIT. BUT AFTER THEY TOOK ME BACK
TO THE O.R. I DIDN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING UNTIL I GOT INTO MY
ROOM. I REALLY LIKED THE MORPHINE PUMP. MY HUSBAND
STAYED THE WITH ME THE FIRST NIGHT. I'M GLAD HE DID BECAUSE WE HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH THE NIGHT NURSE.
MY I.V. PUMP STOPED WORKING SO SHE TOOK IT OFF THE BAG
TO GO GET ANOTHER PUMP. THE BAG WAS JUST DRIPPING WHICH
IS ALOT FASTER WITHOUT THE PUMP. 30 MINUTES LATER SHE
STILL HAD NOT BROUGHT IN ANOTHER PUMP. I TOLD MY HUSBAND
THAT MY HAND FELT SWOLLEN AND HE CHECKED IT AND IT WAS.
THAT'S WHEN MY HUSBAND STARTED RAISING !?#!. SHE SAID
THAT SHE HAD FORGOTTEN TO BRING IN THE OTHER PUMP. WE
FINALLY GOT THAT TAKEN CARE OF. AFTER THAT MY HUSBAND
DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ME. LUCKILY MY SISTER WORKS AT
THE HOSPITAL SO I CONVINCED HIM TO GO HOME WHILE SHE
WAS THERE AND GET SOME REST. HE IS WONDERFUL.
THE NEXT SHIFT OF NURSES WHERE WONDERFUL. THE NEXT DAY
THEY TOOK MY WONDERFUL MORPHINE PUMP. AND STARTED THE
PAIN PILLS. I WAS ABLE TO GO TO THE POTTY BY MYSELF, ALTHOUGH THEY HAD A MEASURING CUP IN IT TO SEE HOW MUCH
I WAS GOING. I THEN STARTED WALKING THE HALLS. I COULDN'T MAKE IT VERY FAR UNTIL I WAS TIRED. DOCTOR CAME IN TO
CHECK ON ME AND SAID THE SURGERY WENT VERY GOOD. AND
HE WAS PROUD OF ME.
I WAS SENT HOME ON SATURDAY AFTER LUNCH. I WAS GLAD
TO BE HOME. I AM STILL VERY TIRED AND STILL WALKING HUNCHED OVER LIKE AN OLD LADY. BELLY IS STILL SWOLLEN.
I GO FOR MY ONE WEED CHECK UP TOMORROW. THE DOCTOR
PUT ME ON THE CLIMARA PATCH WHILE I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL.
IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING OKAY SO FAR.
WELL I BETTER GET BACK TO THE COUCH AND TV BEFORE I GET
CAUGHT.
LOTS OF THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS.

Please remember to get plenty of rest, keep your feet up, drink LOTS of fluids, and walk when you can! Now, if you're reading this, get off the computer and go lay down!

Home And Feeling Good!!
I too am recovering from my total hyst on august 2, along with bladder repair... so am Itotaling a catheter around with me. I also had a 'bad nurse' experience while in the hospital... and I am a nurse so I know its not all nurses.... but I was very upset withthe poor care I received .. and I checked myself out earlier than the Dr. wanted because of it. I knew that once I got home, and could get decent care I would feel much better. . .. . of course.. I know the staffing shortage is a problem everywhere -- but it is still no excuse for poor nursing care. After they took the pump away... I had a heck of a time trying to get my pain meds ona timely basis... I was in terrific pain the entire time because at one point it was 7 hours between pain meds. There was NO pain management. Plus.... I was lying in dirty sheets the first night... wrinkled... and laying on my call light but unable to get it due to pain and inability to raise myself up. I came home early... extremely week and in pain... but after getting in bed... taking pain meds every 4 hours... a full day later I was 100% better in how I felt and looked!
I don't return to the Dr. until 12 days after my surgery... to have the staples removed and catheter... which as a nurse I think is a little long -- I know I personally prefer take staples/stitches out at least 7-10 days otherwise the skin is grown over. I explained that to the Dr.s nurse (and I'm sure she was thinking oh a know it all nurse patient -- the worse!)... but due to dr.s schedule that was the best they could do!
I think maybe hormones are starting to kick up a little. just kind of hit me last night.. when tears started after talking to someone from work... oh well.. guess its all part of the recovery cycle. I am on hormones.
hope your recovery continues along at a good clip without any complications. good luck.

Hi, I'm from Michigan too. Where in Michigan to you live? It sounds like your Castle
experience was a little rough. I'm so glad you are home now. Take care.
