no time to fret

I just found out yesterday that I had to have a TAH on Monday, 4/26. While I had been having ovary problems for a while, it was still a shock and I don't have any time to do research on the internet. Any advice on some condensed websites that I can get through quickly?

Well...

I'm not sure by your post if you're having this surgery due to an emergency type situation or not. Ovary problems could mean a lot of things...could you give us more information?

I'm concerned that you have no time to prepare for this major surgery. Did you get a second opinion? What's the rush...is it because of health concerns or just an opening in the OR schedule?

If this isn't a health concern (meaning it's not an emergency) I'd personally recommend asking to have this done at a later date, because you want to explore your options and to know what things to be aware of pre-op and post op. I could not, myself, imagine going through a hysterectomy so quickly if I had the option to wait and prepare myself.

As far as places to go for information...please make yourself at home here on this site. In my opinion it's got the best information about hysterectomies and the best support, and it is neither pro not anti-hyster, which means you get an honest and balanced look into the surgery you are considering. There is even a message board for Options and Alternatives if you are wanting to consider something other than a hysterectomy.

Hugs,

Rita

no time to fret

My reason for the hyster is I have some type of growth on my ovary that dr has been monitoring for over a year. It didn't have too much change until recently. I have been with my dr for over 25 years and trust him a lot. What he saw on yesterday's ultrasound was cause for concern and he didn't want to wait. I am relieved at the decision because I have been worried for a long time about what is growing in there. I also have abdominal pain for long time. This growth is solid, not liquid, which also scares me. I opted for the full TAH with abdominal incision so I know when I wake up, it is done!

I am by NO means a webmaster on the computer. How can I get that tweety bird to show up with my posts like fussybird did?
