Transportation to hospital (update: problem solved)

I don't know if you have Faith in Action organization in your area but they may be able to help you. I don't know if you have to be low income or not but it might be worth a try!

My surgery was scheduled at 7:30 and I had to be there by 5 in order to get checked in and have all the prep work done. Taking the bus at 6:30 might be cutting it close!

What about having your dr admit you the night before?

Transportation to hospital (update: problem solved)

We actually have an agency that transports mainly for aging and physically disabled people but I just found out last year that anyone can get rides it just wouldn't be at the very low rate that some get. Ours is $4 in one way for anywhere in town and maybe double that for a neighboring town. A lot of people (including myself) never knew they would take anyone and assumed it was only for a certain poplulation. We live in a smaller town of about 20,000 and I know our neighboring town about 25 miles away also has this transportation. Try looking up transportation agencies for the aging in the phonebook. I believe this would be under whatever county name you live in since it is run countywide in our state. Good luck.

Transportation to hospital (update: problem solved)

angorast2; I am so sorry you are having this transportation trouble, but I am also worried for you as to who is going to take care of you after your surgery? you need someone to be there for you at least the first few days sweetie
please, find a church, close to you and go and speak to the pastor and tell him your problems, I am sure that they will be able to not only provide transportation, but help you after, when you are home.
please, let us know what you have decided to do....praying for God's guidance in your decision making and for Him to touch the chosen people around you to help you go thru this....much blessings, and big

UPDATE~Transportation problem to and from hospital!!!

My doctors' and surgeons' scheduler just called and they bumped my surgery up to 10:00am!!! I won't have to arrive until 8am. I will take the bus to the stop where the hospitals' free shuttle picks you up. So just the one taxi getting home, I think I can manage that. And I don't have a choice of being alone. I have several friends from work that I promise I will call if needed. I won't hesitate to have an ambulance come if I have any complications. The doctor knows I will be alone and wouldn't do the surgery if she didn't think it couldn't be done. I know how the medicines affect me after surgery, it will be all about sleeping. I even have the luxery of an attatched bathroom in my bedroom! If I drop anything, well, it will just have to become a cat toy! And my 2 cats, after my ablation they laid next to me on the bed for 2 days, they seemed to know all I could do was sleep. They even gently tried to 'wash me'! I think because they're girls, maybe, they somehow understand.

Transportation to hospital (update: problem solved)

I understand what you mean about pets, I have a poodle who was very mopey until I came home from the hospital and then she would not leave my side. My "grand-dog" also came for a visit and they had to get after him because he would follow me every where nearly knocking me over! I hope you cats will take good care of you.

You will be in my prayers for a successful surgery and an uneventful recovery.

Transportation to hospital (update: problem solved)

Hi, I hope your surgery is successful and recovery problem free!

Quick tip... I got one of those pick up/grip thingies this weekend to help if I drop anything. (I got mine at the Bed Bath store) Probably can get one at Walmart, ect.

Good luck!

Good luck on your surgery. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I had to chuckle at the kitties "washing" you. My cat likes to wash my hand! I am so glad that they are a source of comfort to you.

Glad they worked it out for you!

And my kittehs are the same way, esp my black cat. I swear she cured a migraine last month. I laid down and slept, and when I awoke she was curled around my head on the pillow, and my headache was completely gone!
