low grade fever post-op14 days

Hi Everyone,
I had a supracervical hysterectomy with pelvic suspension on 4/4/12. The pain was tremendous. I couldn't walk for about the first week. Now most of the pain in in the left side where the Dr. says the 'big' stitch is. I am exhausted. My hemoglobin was 9 after surgery. Dr. thinks because I had just finished with my last period. It is now 14 days post-op and I have been running a low grade fever (99.0-99.9) on and off everyday. My normal temp is 96-97 I have 4 small children and my return to work date is this Monday 4/23/12. I do physical therapy/home based. I am terrified of returning to work this early. Is anyone else running a low-grade fever? I am trying to get into "work mode" with vaccuming, laundry etc. It just wiped me out completely. Thank You

Re: low grade fever post-op14 days

hey there! take it easy! i had a hysterectomy at 26 in 2007, i went back to work in 10 days. I experienced easy fatigue too. And vividly remember the sharp pains on the left side. I remember calling my dr and she said it was b/c of the re-direction of blood flow. I kept my ovaries. I can tell you it does ease up rarely do i have problems with it. Good luck!

Re: low grade fever post-op14 days

Hi Ammers,

Sounds like you are trying to do WAY to much! Please NO vacuuming, lifting (laundry) for sure...you could really hurt yourself if you pull something, then you'll be back to the hospital for sure!!!

Low grade fever is okay, but yours sounds close to 100...if I were you, I'd call the doctor and then get back into bed for another week.

Take care of yourself!!! HUGS

Re: low grade fever post-op14 days

I too run a low normal and have had a low grade temp for a week now. After about three days I finally saw my dr and he said it looked like maybe an infected or inflamed internal stitch. So he put me on antibiotics and three days later I'm just starting to see my temp go down. I would call the dr ...also I think if you're a therapist I would think its way to early to go back ..definitely don't want to mess up anything or cause adhesions to form. Hope you feel better!

low grade fever post-op14 days

Well I went to the doc on Mon. He said he isn't worried about anything. He did give 2 weeks of hormone patches and 2 weeks more off work. Today I woke up with a 100.1 fever, chills last night, headache, sore throat and low back ache. My 2 year old has been sick and I think maybe I caught something more from him. After all the kids are at school I am going back to bed.
