Driving after hysterectomy - LAVH?

Hello Girls,
Just wondering when you all started driving again? My insurance says that whenever I can do an emergency stop I can drive again.
I’m over 3 weeks post op (LAVH, everything taken out, including endometriosis & adhesions), feeling pretty good but a bit tender.
Anyone start driving at 3 or 4 weeks post op?

Re: Driving with LAVH?

My hysterectomy was DaVinci and I was told I could drive again after two weeks. Keep in mind that if you are taking any narcotic pain pills you need to be off those as well.

Re: Driving with LAVH?

Yes, my Dr did say that I could feel like driving anytime from 2 weeks, and I stopped serious painkillers after one day, and stopped paracetomol and ibuprofen after 1 week! I’m still slightly nervous about it, I might try a short drive this afternoon 😬
Thank you for the reply, you have encouraged me xx

Re: Driving with LAVH?

I’ve been driving short distances for about 10 days. Just around town and picking my kids up from school. I’m 3 weeks, 1 day post op. I was told I could drive when I was off pain meds and able to make a quick stop. I only took prescription pain meds for 2 days.

Driving after hysterectomy - LAVH?

Ok! I’ve done it, I drove and it was fine driving - it was just my trousers that hurt me!! I definitely could have done an emergency stop if needed, but was mainly stuck in crawling traffic!
Thanks for the sensible advice and for encouraging me xx

Re: Driving with LAVH?

My Dr said no driving until off pain meds & no longer having any pains- 1 sudden pain can contribute to a delay reaction while driving. TAH, drove week 5, I did not take narcotics post op,
