Daily Vitamin
Hi all,
I'm had my TAH/BSO on 1/22/10 and I'm searching for a daily vitamin. Since I am now "post menopausal" I am looking for a good vitamin that helps the heart and bones. Centrum Silver for Women was one I was going to buy, but the pills are HUGE! Is there something else that you all can recommend? I can take pills, but hopefully they are not all this big. Thank you.

Re: Daily Vitamin
You can look up which vitamins are good for bones and hearts. Calicum or vitamin d are good for bones not sure about heart. I take a calcium with vitamin d added. Hope that helps some.

Re: Daily Vitamin
I'm with Nish. My doctor "ordered" me to take calcium and vitamin D. I found a Calcium +D, but the pill is huge. I'm supposed to take it 3 times a day, but am having a hard time remembering to take it. I'm thinking that when I go back to work and am on a regular schedule it will be easier to remember. My doctor had given me the number of mg I'm supposed to take a day, but the pharmacist said I need to take one pill with each meal because a body can only absorb so much calcium at one time and if I take the recommended dose all at once it won't work. There are so many combinations of vitamins out there, I'd ask your doctor what he/she wants you on. Calcium and Vitamin D were the only two recommended by mine.

Re: Daily Vitamin
Yeah the one I have is calcium + d they are not too big and I just take mines once a day. I bought them on my own after my hyster. Spring Valley is the brand I use. I think omega 3's are good for heart health. But yeah you can google or ask your dr.

Re: Daily Vitamin
Something I use to help me remember to take my medications including vitamins is a mediset, it is a container that is divided into 1 week and the one I have has sections for Morning pills, Noon pills, Evening pills and Bedtime pills, they also make ones that are just morning and night but this helps me to remember to take them as I leave it sitting on my desk in front of the computer screen and if I forget I took them all I have to do is look in the compartment to see if its full or empty. It is really handy.
Someone awhile back suggested taking a multivitamin at night before you go to bed because your body will absorb it better, not sure how true that is but that is what I do with my multivitamin.
Also sometimes there are some medications that shouldn't be taken at the same time as your vitamins so be sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist about this.

Re: Daily Vitamin
Most multivitamins and calcium can be cut/broke in half or crushed and put into applesauce, pudding, ice cream or what ever you like. I'm not sure how that would taste but worth a try remember to ask doc or pharmacy. I have used a pill box for a few years now it helps.
