Not sure what the hysterectomy I'm having is called

May sound crazy but everything changed yesterday..Was supposed to have a partial with just my uterus removed..Now the doc says he's taking uterus, cervix and tubes..Planning on keeping my ovaries...Can anyone give me the type (name) to which surgery I will be having..I've tried looking it up but can't seem to find one with just uterus cervix amd tubes being removed---

I think its a total hysterectomy incl, removal of tubes.

Really? A total! Wow I'm in shock! Not what I had been planning for and NOT what I wanted..I don't have anything wrong with my cervix or tubes...But I do have a lot of adhesions with bladder uterus and abdomen...Just don't understand the reasoning for a total on me.... :

Your doctor didn't explain why? I wanted to keep my cervix but it was fully explained why I could not and I agreed it was the best decision - for me.

I would ask the reasons. You might have to have a total but you should at least understand why.

I had a total and kept my tubes and ovaries. My cervix was removed and I dont even remember the reason behind it other than continued polyps. It could be due to the history of endo in my family, I just dont remember. Found out in surgery I had endo as well as the humongous fibroid taking up the entire space of my uterus..
