How much can I do by day 18 post hysterectomy?

Hi Everyone,

I had my TLH on April 1st. I feel like I'm coming along nicely. I'm following all of the rules for my recovery.
How did you ladies feel about 2 and half weeks into your recovery? This may sound silly, but I purchased concert tickets months ago for April 18th. I really want to go to this concert. I'm already sick of being stuck in the house!
The tickets are not general admission, so I will have a seat for the duration of the show.
Good idea, or bad idea?

Re: How much can I do by day 18?

It really depends how YOU feel, if you have a seat, it should be ok. Maybe bring a pillow to sit on...

Oh, great idea! I bet that would help a lot. I am going to call my doctor next week and get her opinion before I make any decisions.

I think you'll be uncomfortable sitting up right that long and the biggest problem I think is that you might be tired being out at night

Re: How much can I do by day 18 post hysterectomy?

Hello Everyone,

Its been 14 days today post op and I'm feeling well for the most part. No real pain to speak of. Little cramping here and there. My big concern is this belly over my incision. Which I refer to as the shelf. I didn't even have this before surgery so I'm fearful, this will not go away. So fearful, I'm thinking about seeing a plastic surgeon to see if this is normal. Can anyone out there speak to the same issue? If so, please respond and let me know, I'm not being paranoid.

Thanks )

That would be a really good idea. My doctor would have said that it was a bad idea. But she saw my insides.

Think about how far it will be to walk to your seat, how long you will have to sit and the walk back to the car. Add to that, the car ride.

I am currently at 6 weeks. My doctor's office it two hours away. By the time I got there, I was terribly uncomfortable. And I took a pain pill for the ride back. I just couldn't sit for that long.

On the other hand you may be like a couple of the ladies that post here and could have attended a concert just a few days after surgery. Who knows?

I'm hoping to be the latter in that case. But now that I am thinking about all of the extra stuff included, I am just not sure. It's in a big arena, and the walk to the seats might be a bit too much. I will be really disappointed to miss it, but I am going to consult my doc and just see how it goes. I know that my health and recovery are the most important things that I need to focus on!

Re: How much can I do by day 18 post hysterectomy?

I personally wouldnt. I have a dentist appt on 4/18 and plan to re-schedule it since the idea of sitting in a waiting room may delay my recovery, so I have cancelled any plans for all outings in April. I have a wedding on June 20th so I hope I will be in better shape to make that.

Re: How much can I do by day 18 post hysterectomy?

I never really had any problem sitting straight or walking quite a way. It really just depends on how you feel by that time. I probably would have gone if it was something I really wanted to see, and maybe not if I really didn't care about it. Would you be able to leave early if need be? If so, that's a good safety net to have. My dr basically told me that other than specifically prohibited activities, I could do what I felt up to.
