7 weeks post hysterectomy: Emotions out of control!!
Anyone else experiencing wacky emotions after Hyst??
I don't mean I am sad over losing my uterus....I was happy to see her go. She provided me with three beautiful children but also cause a lot of pain and agony in the last few years. I am 38 years old and am 7 weeks post op from an LAVH and B/S.
I cry at the drop of a hat lately. My bf and I are very fun, like to tease each other a lot. My kids and I have great relationships and also like to have fun and tease and joke around. Since my hyst tho....I find myself on emotional overload!!! I know in my head that what was said or what is happening is funny, or light hearted or whatever....but My chest will be on fire and tears on burning in my eyes.
What the heck is going on?!?
I spoke with my dr at my 6-week appt and she assured me it was a normal part of surgery and would go away in a few more weeks. But in the meantime I am going crazy!!!!
AM I CRAZY!!!??? lol

Re: Emotions out of control!!
Hello Tgray78
I am sorry to hear that you have this going on. Even at this stage of recovery, your body is healing in so many different ways. Along with tissue, nerve-endings, muscle and ligaments that are gradually gaining function again. Your ovaries had their blood source severed which leaves them in a state of shock. The signs are menopause-like right along with feeling super or overly emotional (among other symptoms).
It might be a good idea to start a journal for any symptoms that you notice. That way you have feedback when speaking with your doctor. It doesn’t hurt to put a call into your doctor’s office to let them know what you are experiencing. They will then make the determination if you need an appointment then ultimately have your hormone and thyroid levels tested to see how things are going.
Personally, yes, it was a ride. My emotions were all over the scope even verging on being angry even when my levels apparented to be WNL. After over 4 plus months along with taking Evening Primrose Oil once a day, my ovaries finally settled down.
The answer to your question is… no you are not crazy. Touching base with your physician might hopefully lead you in the right direction even if they need an extra nudge from an HRT/HRT alternative.
Here are some articles with a little more insight:

Ovarian Function
Please let us know how you are doing sweetie!
Sending your way.

Omg, you're not crazy! I will bawl over a text, a thought, or over nothing. I can't tell what will send me into an emotional tailspin. Our bodies have been thru a lot. So, let the tears flow. Hugs.
