Weigh yourself before and after... trust me!

This may sound weird, but one of the best things I did was to weigh myself just before I went to the hospital. When I got home after a lengthy 5 days stay, I weighed myself every day for the next 7 days and was soooo glad I did.
Here's why... pre-surgery, I weighed 173. I'd worked hard to get to that point and was anxious to see what would happen after surgery. I had some complications and was in the hospital for 5 days, getting fluids for much of that time, so I was pretty swollen when I finally made it home.
One home, and just before I showered, I got on the scale and was stunned to see that my weight had ballooned to 194, even though I hadn't eaten much. I decided to weigh each day and am so glad (now) that I did. My weight loss was dramatic. From Monday 2/2 to Monday 2/9 my weight was as follows: 194, 191, 190, 187.5, 183.8, 181.5, 175.2, and finally 173.0.
I was eating daily and not "under-eating" but the loss really helped quantify in my head the amount of fluid that my body had collected in such a short amount of time. I felt like a champ for that small piece of progress in such a short time.
