1 week post hysterectomy - woke up at 230 this morning with 102.9 fever.

I am hoping there is an issue with the thermometer since I seem to have no other symptoms of infection. No discharge, pain, or discomfort beyond what I have come to expect. What do you all think? I'm planning on being at the gyno office whenit opens in the morning. I will not go to emergency. My last trip cost my insurance company 15000.00. It seems that if I really needed to go I would feel like it was more pressing. Should I bite the bullet and go, or wait until 8 am?

How do you feel?! Maybe take some ibuprofen and if it were me I would definitely be going or calling me doctor first thing!

Re: woke up at 230 this morning with 102.9 fever.

102.9 is only 0.7 degrees F over the "start worrying" borderline. Here's the question: has your fever gone down already?

I had a TAH and was in the hospital for three days. I noticed that when the nurses took my middle-of-the-night temp readings, they'd mutter and give me an acetaminophen (Tylenol, paracetamol). My first night home, I woke up in the middle of the night shaking with chills because my nightshirt was soaked with sweat. I stripped off the nightshirt and went back to sleep. The next morning I remembered the nurses and the acetaminophen. After that I took an acetaminophen before I went to bed each night. No more fever, sweats, chills. I did that for about a week.

So if your fever is only happening in the middle of the night and then has gone down by morning, I'd say try acetaminophen.

Re: 1 week post hysterectomy - woke up at 230 this morning with 102.9 fever.

I had terrible night sweats for the first 2 weeks, literally soaked my nightwear and pillows etc. this gradually did stop though. I wonder if it's our body's ways of expelling all the drugs we had in our system.

That said, it's worth checking it out.
