Vaginal cuff infection

I went to my GYN today as I am having very bad pain, and overall I just feel like crap. I am 4 weeks post op from my LAVH/TAH (due to bleeding they had to open me up, after doing the LAVH).

Well I have an infection, of the vaginal cuff and I am on antibiotics (of course my insurance company did not cover them and they cost me $100.16 for 10 pills) that alone was enough to make me want to cry.

I will see my doctor on Monday to see how things are going, they did a bunch of blood work, I had to see his partner today because he is on vacation!!!!

When the doctor did my pelvic exam I thought I was going to die, it hurt so bad.

So please say another prayer for me, I am so scared that they will put my butt back into the hospital. I do not do well with infections and have had to go back for IV antibiotics.

so sorry Hazel. I sure hope you don't have to go back to the hospital. Hopefully this antibiotic will work well. No wonder that you aren't feeling well. And then the cost of the pills

I had a vaginal cuff infection 2 weeks post op. I felt just like you described. It was awful. The good news is that within 48 hours on antibiotic I felt much better and a week later I was back on track with my recovery. I hope the same for you.

I'm so glad to see you posting again! I missed you and wondered how you were doing.

Sorry about the infection - you've had a rough go of things... hope they can get you fixed up without re-admitting you to the castle.

I am out of Thin Mints, but thank God my sister in law is a Girl Scout leader, so I have called and she has 4 more boxes for me

It is kind of sad when your toddlers (they are 3 & 4) come running to you saying call Aunt Lori we need more cookies!!!

I can't wait to be able to exercise, I think it will help me feel better! I have been having horrible headaches, and I am not sleeping well, and I cry all the time, and I still have my ovaries????

So thank you all for being here and letting me read, because you all have made me feel so much better knowing that I am not alone!!!

Hey there ladies, thank you all so much for posting to this website. Where would I be without my hystersisters!!

I'm 3 months post op and opened up my cuff. OUCH. infection too. we were sooo patient about being intimate. We waited 7 weeks, then we were very gentle. I had some bleeding, but nothing to worry about. Doc said its normal. Then the second time, about 5 hours later, had terrible pain. I didn't put the two together, and it went away in a day. Then this last time, right at the end...OUCH...The doc says I probably opened it up the second time we were intimate, and it wasn't healed. Sperm can burn the heck out of an internal wound...Ya Think!! OUCH. So I'm on antibiotics and back to square one...no lifting over 5 lbs, no swimming, baths, sex or exercise...for 6 weeks. So word to all the ladies...if you have any pain after intercourse...within 24-48 hours, please call your ob/gyn. The good news is I get to catch up on all the DVD's I've been wanting to see again! Ya gotta take the positive to level out the negative. Its all part of the deal.

I too had a cuff infection this came with alot of bleeding and a mucus type discharge. Dr. prescribed antibiotics which cleared this up but in the process I developed a urinary tract infection due to the bacteria and the fact the the urinarty tract was tender and raw from the catheter used for sugery. So I was on another round of antibiotics. I am almost 3wks post op and all infections have cleared up.
