Adeno symptoms? what were yours?

I have endometriosis, have known about it for 12 years or so. But I am beginning to suspect adeno too. I have heavy cycles, I use a diva cup and on the first 2 to 3 days I'm emptying that sucker every hour or two. I even have to wake multiple times a night to deal with it. After that the bleeding slows down significantly and I can resume normal activities but the bleeding and later spotting last until about cycle day 11. I often have a day or two where my bleeding stops entirely and then picks back up again. Of course I have terrible pains during my cycle but how do I differentiate between possible adeno pains and Endo pains?

Re: Adeno symptoms? what were yours?

I have had both endo and adeno. The endo was when I was in my teens and 20's: terrible cramps, heavy bleeding, nausea and pain during first few days of cycle, bad PMS. In between periods I felt ok. Eventual infertility and hemorrhagic cysts on ovaries.
Adeno in my 40's: swelling belly, pelvic pain worse around periods, irregular, heavy periods, skipping periods, anemia, low back pain, joint pain, swelling in legs and hands, enlarged, hard uterus, heavy feeling in pelvis, hair falling out. There symptoms were there every day no matter where I was in cycle. They got progressively worse over time and I opted for hyst.

After surgery doc said she saw no endo...so although I had it when I was younger, I suspect all my problems lately were from adeno.

Re: Adeno symptoms? what were yours?

I am having my hysterectomy due to suspected Adenomyosis; I went in for annual exam & told my GYN that my cramps and bleeding had become much worse over the last year. He did a full pelvic exam and discovered that my uterus was enlarged. He ordered an ultrasound and found a cyst on my right ovary, as well as overall tenderness throughout my uterus (which was enlarged). He suspected Adenomyosis. The ultrasound did not confirm Adenomyosis, but my GYN believes that is the cause of my pain 3 weeks out of the month, in addition to the horribly painful period cramping. Hoping that removing everything except my left ovary will solve the monthly pain. 3 weeks to go....Hoping all is resolved by this time next month!!! These were my symptoms, I hope you find an answer for your symptoms!!!

Re: Adeno symptoms? what were yours?

Thanks for your input! I have also been losing my hair like crazy! And my ferritin levels are ultra low. My lower back always hurts but especially on my period. I see an Endo/pelvic pain specialist in January so I'm just in research mode. Good luck with surgery kctsunset! I hope it brings you much needed relief!

Re: Adeno symptoms? what were yours?

Adeno feels like a 'lead ball' in your pelvis. Track it on a calendar , it slowly fills all days of the month, except a few with pain. Also you begin to feel like your in labor , when you cycle. I felt like my uterus was contracting, one time I had to call my dh to help me out of the tub, was calling nurse for something stronger than Advil. Large clots are common as well and as they push through the cervix, that caused a lot of pain. I had a lot of unexpected gushes and became homebound during that time. Felt like crud!
