This is all new to me.... help
There are alot of great posts out here related to the whole process, and the whole process of having your ovaries left after the surgery.
They really helped me to gain some insight into what I can expect. I've also been creating some great lists related to what I need to do at home to prepare for my recovery period.
I suggest going through the different pages in this forum, and then I'm sure that some more experienced posters can point you to the right places.
All I can say is, take a deep breath, and think about how great your life is going to be after you have the hysterectomy. Going through the recovery is a small trade-off to get rid of all the symptoms and pain that I've been living with.
I only found out last Friday, six days ago, that I'd be having my hysterectomy, and it's next Monday (as long as the OR can find room for me!).
This site is a great spot to find realistic information about your hysterectomy and what tolls it will take on you. It's saved my sanity!
Good luck, and hopefully you will get a date really soon, so you can begin to plan and aclimate yourself. You're not alone!
There are also some wonderful posts over in the post-op forum. It's really great to see how people are recovering, and what they're going through.
