Post op discharge

I know this is TMI
my post op discharge has gone from blood to pink stained cream to thick creamy..
i change a liner every 2 hours and its stinging a little on the stitches..

But i notice its a little smelly.. I cant remember if that is normal or not i had similar discharhe 18 years ago when i had 3rd deg tears from childbirth..
I am having some 'nappy off' time No undies and legs apart for airing out maybe might help as I dont know if the non stop pads and underwear on is not helping the wounds breathe.
Vag hyst plus anterior and posterior repair.

thanks

Hi! You should give your doctor a call. You may have a yeast or vaginal infection. I had a similar problem about 2 weeks after my surgery. It really burned and itched. The doctor said the bentadine they clean you out with after surgery kills the good bacteria in your vagina and its common after surgery. She gave me antibiotic pills to take for several days and it cleared right up. Good luck!

Re: Post op discharge

Talk to your doctor. I had a similar problem at about week 2. I had a vaginal infection and had to be put on Flagyl. If not treated the infection can have serious complications. Go get checked out, just to be safe.

Re: Post op discharge

I see my GP on tuesday. Having catheter removed.
Am taking anti yeast medication and been using cream all week as a preventative.
Did google apparently some stitches can be a bit whiffy as they dissolve!~
Thanks !

Re: Post op discharge

I, too, have been having a discharge, At first it was white then pinkish and today I noticed a few dots of blood. I was so glad to not wear pantiliners and now back on them. I have an appointment with surgeon Monday.

Good luck to you and keep the faith 'cause I believe it's going to be better for us soon.

Re: Post op discharge

Definitely call your doctor. I had a yeast infection at 2 weeks and just got through taking antibiotic for bacterial infection that was diagnosed last week (at 4 weeks). It is better to go ahead and speak with the doctor and get treatment for whatever is going on. I, too, think it is quite common to have these infections, especially if you are like me and have always been prone to infections.

Hope you feel better soon!
