bleeding after 10 days

I had my surgery 10 days ago and today I went to the bathroom and found bright red/brown blood when I wiped. I am not going through pads, it only shows up when I wipe or urinate. I think my cuff may be bleeding but not sure and should I be concerned?

I had some bleeding similiar to what you are saying during week 5. I called the dr. just to be on the safe side. I was told as long as I was not soaking a pad similiar to a period to not worry. It lasted for about three days and have had nothing since. When I later saw the dr. for 6 week checkup he said it could have been something as simple as overdoing it that day. If you are concerned then call the dr. I sometimes felt like I was calling for something so trivial but always felt so much better after I was able to talk to the dr or nurse. Good luck, Cathy

Thanks for letting me know that. I had company show up so I landed up sitting for a couple hours straight so when I just was in the washroom it was much less, so I think you right I just perhaps did too much today.

I had some light bleeding two weeks after surgery and then a few days later and the last time was from over doing it. Was told that bleeding would occur.

Glad I gound this thread, I've been having spotting on and off too. I keep thinking "oh no what have I done in there??", . I can't wait until I get the docs ok at 6 weeks and I can resume normal activities without anxiety.

Ya I don't go back either until the 6 week mark so I kind of wish I was seeing her sooner. Anyhow I did land up with a yeast infection as well so that has been a bummer. I would love to know how long I need to wait to have a bath...I am assuming 6 weeks too....will you return to a job or are you lucky enough to stay at home?

I had exactly the same thing since surgery, but it's starting to go away now.

I had the same kind of thing happen three weeks out. The nurse had me come in to get checked, it was very light but a bit more than it had been. The doc saw I was only three weeks out and said "you're ok", then checked me to be sure and said yes, I was fine, it was healing nicely, the bleeding was nothing unusual. So, as others have noted, it's not unusual. As I understand, at about three weeks out, the sutures start to disolve and this could have an effect.
