post op constipation

Had LAVH on07-16-13 BMs return to normal within a few days.
08-08-13 Had emergency surgery for vaginal cuff tear near/at the artery. Again BMs were normal within a few days. I went out to lunch on /Wednesday. I was so sick from the food that I almost didn't make it home. I stayed in the bathroom a long time with diarrhea.
Tonight I feel like I need to go but only produced a small amount of almost powdery looking stool with a little blood. Could my system be in shock from the bad lunch and is trying to return to normal. Should I try a stool softener?
I will be so glad to return to normal- whatever that is.lol

Something about that doesn't sound right at all, I would strongly suggest that you call your doctor. I've had BM issues since day 1; I'm almost always constipated except when I was taking antibiotics for a week for a vaginal cuff infection & those gave me terrible diarrhea. I haven't had any blood in my stools at all, even when the BM's were the most painful. I've been on a stool softener since day 1, still taking miralax because I'm terrified of having a normal BM right now due to things still not feeling quite normal in that dept.
