Oct 23rd date for my hysterectomy!!
My friend told me about this site...so glad that she did. I wasn't sure what other questions to ask...or what I really needed to bring to the hospital -- this site has been such a big help!!
I was originally to have it done Nov 13th, but...due to loosing my job, I only have insurance through the end of the month. I think that this surgery had something to do with my release because I "wouldn't be able to do my job in full" when I returned. The Dr.'s were amazing and able to move the surgery up.
I have a fibroid that is the size of a melon and my uterus is double in size...needless to say -- makes for a very uncomfortable day. Since my pre surgical appt yesterday...I've had a couple people moving things around and let's say...I'm kind of uncomfortable! I have had to use rubberbands and hair ties to keep my jeans up - because I can;t zip them!
Really looking forward to feeling better and to be able to have sex again!!! My husband has been wonderful. Although, I don't think that he really realizes what all is involved, so I'm going to have him read up before the big day!!
Well, that's my story in a nutshell...I'm so glad to be here!!

Re: Oct 23rd date for my hysto!!
Is your company under the FMLA umbrella? If so did you speak to them about FMLA and this was their response?
I'm asking because how dare they assume what you will or won't be able to do after recovery - they can't know that you won't be back better than ever and FMLA covers 12 weeks (unpaid) for recovery in which you can't lose your job. They don't have to hold your exact position but they have to bring you back to one at an equal level.
I'm so glad your doctor's were able to move it up, but I'm just outraged that when you're dealing with a medical issue a company would use that as a catalyst for letting you go.
And my husband didn't really realize what all it involved either, but after he watched the Davinci surgery on youtube he understands more that this is a big deal physically.

Re: Oct 23rd date for my hysto!!
Thank you for the reply!! I don't think that they ar under the FMLA umbrella---there are only about 15 people there. Actually, it may be a blessing. Although it DOES stink, I won;t be worried about hurrying to get back possible sooner than I should!
There were a few other issues too, ie: it's a family run business and the son is getting ready to take things over, but he was a mama's boy---ran to her every time something didn't go his way, and other things. I'm so sad about the other girls that are my friends, but it will be nice not having to watch my back all the time and knowing that they are on my case!!
Still trying to navigate this site...have you had your hysto yet?

As long as you're okay with it, then great...you can recover properly without pressure to return and find something amazing once you're back out there.
I've just heard about people getting shoved out when they really need the job and...bad management just makes me mad on principle.
I haven't had mine yet - I'm scheduled for November 6th.

Re: Oct 23rd date for my hysto!!
I'm having mine on 23rd as well for a 10cm fibroid!! I'm really nervous but, like you say, will be good to get back to normal and not have a huge belly and not be able to fit into half my clothes!!
Good luck for 23rd - hope all goes well.
Take care
