can anyone relate?

my problem started one year ago, my ob/gyn told me that the cramping and painful intercourse, along with the thinckened endometrium was nothing to be concerned about. i finally got a second opinion and he did a laporoscopy, where he found multiple adhesions and an erosion on my uterus. finally better right...wrong. one month later the pain got even more intense and he started me on lupron and ordered an mri. the lupron is terrible, cause i also have systemic lupus and my muscles and joints are killing me. i started bleeding yesterday very heavy, and i am still waiting on the mri results. i dont know what is coming next, but to be honest my pcp feel hysterectomy is in my best interest, even though i am only 35. i had a tubal ligation already. can they have missed something like adnomyosis while doing the lap.? any feedback will be greatly appreciated. thanks, mary

Adenomyosis

Hi Mary,

I am replying to this post, as well as yours to me in the other Adeno thread.

You could definitely have adeno, I wanted to also tell you that your bleeding on Lupron after a week is pretty normal. The Lupron causes a surge of hormones that kind of throws your cycle out of wack for a little while, I've never done Lupron, but have read lots about it, I think the bleeding usually last for about 10 days or so, not sure if it's heavy the whole time. I hear that after the first month things get a lot better. I just did not want to deal with the side effects, and knowing that it's a temporary fix, I was not willing to do it. It may be worth it if you are looking to save your uterus because you want to get pregnant, or need to shrink it down to have a hysto, but other then that I'm not sure how much it's worth it. If you do feel better on Lupron after a while then you probably do have adeno or endo problem, as I don't think Lupron makes a big difference with pain symptoms in anything else. I don't know how it affects Lupus though, so may be more detrimental then helpful for you.

Adeno is kind of hard to diagnose, your doctor may be able to diagnose it with an MRI, mine did it through a Lap, although I think it's easy to miss it with a lap as they can only see the outside of the uterus, he was going by shape and the feel of it, and he's a specialist in disorders such as this. Hopefully the person reading your MRI knows how to look for adeno and can tell if you have it, think an MRI can diagnose you pretty well, if the person reading it knows all the signs of adeno.

I hope you get some answers from your MRI.

Take care,
Debra
