6 week post hysterectomy checkup: Doc never heard of suture causing pain?
Ive had this pain on lower left for 2 1/2 weeks now. Have strongly suspected its a suture pulling/poking. Saw doc today for 6 week checkup, and def a very tender touchy spot. Did vaginal ultrasound to check ovaried, but normal. When probe hit that spot on cuff, stung like mad and i nearly came off table when it pulled!! He wants me to see GI for colonoscopy now. No cancers even suspected. Cleared by GI prior to hysterectomy. Gyn said its a running suture but could tryto cut and remove it, not sure how easy it would be to pull out because he has never done it before!!! I do not care to be his guinea pig so didnt do it. He did seem to listen today. Since everything has checked out well, i asked to give it a couple more weeks to heal (thinking if i am right and its suture, it should start getting better anyway), then if still a problem procede with more stuff. Already had 2 surgeries and multiple ultrasounds, Hida scan, ct scans, cardio workup, all since feb. No fevers infections or problems found. Think i am being reasonable? I see lots of women on here still having pain at 6 weeks. It hurts, but i am able to function for most part until pain gets bad, then ice and rest, sometimes meds (ibuprofen, ultracet).

Was the pain more like a pull in your vaginal area when sitting? I don't think you're being unreasonable at all. I think these sutures internal and external take longer to come out than expected.

Thanks, i posted this about a month ago. I waited patiently, but madr an appointment with a new doc as i am still having issues 10 weeks out. He found source, explanations, and supportive therapy. It is the sutures, apparently the sensitive tissue there doesnt like foreign objects poking it!! Imagine that. First doc is officially fired.

As of Friday it will be four weeks and when I went to see my dr last Monday and told him how it hurts on both right and left side he said it was the stitches and it would get better. He even drew a picture of how he tied them off. Absolutely love my dr.

No your (not) over thinking or being unreasonable . I experienced the same pain lower left side felt as if your are being cut open , I had the vaginal ultrasound ( I took meds before hand so I could walk) so the pain wasn't bad irritating at most ,everything was clear so we switched out meds which has helped with the pain tremendously which she went on to say that it would help the affected area which the sutures was causing the pain meds issued and must say it works wonders but with time all will be ok .
Amitriptyline 10 mg
