Re: Bowell movement after a Hystetectomy

I went today for the first time since my surgery last Wed, and it wasn't as bad as I was fearing! My DR did not recommend anything but I increased amount of fresh fruit and have been drinking a ton of apple juice, which must have helped since it wasn't "hard" to go. I'm not going to lie, the pain for about 5 minutes before I went was awful, but I survived, and you will too! Good luck :-)

Re: Bowell movement after a Hystetectomy

I had TVH a few months ago, hadn't 'gone' for 5 or 6 days, taking Colace was useless. I ended up flushing them down the toilet, how ironic.

I went out and got some Aloe Vera juice, drank a 1/2 cup and was right back to normal within a day.

Make sure to get the pure stuff from a health food store.

Re: Bowell movement after a Hystetectomy

Mine took 5 days, it was only when I started on senokot and stool softener combined. My mother who is a nurse suggested it and it was the best thing because I was in more pain from the constipation than anything. Day 18 now and while I'm still taking it occasionally I seem ok for the most part. I imagine once I'm moving more it'll get back to normal again which I can't wait for.

Re: Bowell movement after a Hystetectomy

I was 5 days out also for my first BM. I am 25 days post op and still have to take a daily stool softner and Miralax. It hurts to bear down so I'm trying to keep the stools soft so I can avoid that for now. Seems to be working! Good luck! If you can't go then get some options from your doctor...
