Anyone have pelvic glands removed for a non-cancerous condition?

I frequently have very painful swollen glands in my groin area for no apparent reason (maybe chronic fatigue syndrome) (no stds or anything). I was thinking about asking if I can have them removed when I have my hyster. Has anyone else had this done?

I"ve not heard of anyone having this done while having a hyst. I'm going to your post up in the hopes that someone who's looked into this might be able to help you some.
Take care!

Anyone have pelvic glands removed for a non-cancerous condition?

Hi what does your DR say about this? My understanding is that this is only done as a last resort, for cancerous conditions in the area. You need those to help your body prevent infection, and if you have them removed there are all sorts of precautions you have to take for the rest of your life, which make it an unattractive option unless you absolutely have to do it.

Has your DR assessed your inguinal nodes and proposed any alternate therapy? Have you been diagnosed with CFS? Perhaps a second opinion might be in order here.

Good luck!
s,
-Linda

Hi Swolf171

You mention painful swollen glands ... there are different glands in the groin area and I think it might be helpful if we knew what glands you are referring to.

The reason for my question ... I'm aware that the Bartholin glands can become infected and require draining. I had a relative with this problem, off and on for many years. But I believe the Bartholin glands produce the vaginal lubrication ... so the benefits outweigh the problems, unless there are cancer concerns.

I also agree with Linda, that a second opinion is a great idea, both concerning the hyst and the gland removal. Please be sure you understand the pros and cons of gland removal so that you are fully informed when making this decision.

Let us know how you are doing and what you decide.

Beth
