3 days post-op hysterectomy (LAVH)

I am 3 days post op from a partial labroscopic and vaginal hysterectomy; and feeling quite good. I found this site a day before my surgery and of course I researched the heck out of my procedure. Some things that really helped me to prepare physically was to: eat a lighter meal with more vegetables for dinner the night before, take stool softeners, and to go into surgery with really nothing in my system. I was more worried about the gas and how to manage that effectively. I will not lie about how I felt when I woke up in recovery. I was in severe pain. I would say it was clearly about a 10/10 and felt like one of the worst periods I have ever had. I cried and begged for drugs and after a little bit that was the last time I struggled with the pain. I had a pain pump until 7 am the next day and that helped a lot. By 9 am the next day I was walking down the hall, had already urinated without help, and was figuring out how to get up and down with little pain. I was discharged at 1 pm and was extremely tired. I slept most of the day, but managed to take gas meds, stool softeners, and eat some fruit. The start of day day 2 was much better. Pain was listed as maybe a 2/10 and it was just more uncomfortable than pain. You mainly experience burning or stinging pain when sitting too long, but that feeling isnt as intense today. So far so good. I have only taken ibuprofen for anti-inflammatory 2 x a day and I was able to go to the rest room this morning without any pain. Please make sure you stay on top of this part and it can be quite painful and feel like a heart attack at times. Be diligent and rest when your body says to rest. I will check back in a few days.
