Castle night stay~ALONE

Good Afternoon Ladies!
I will be escorted to the Castle by DH and he will remain there with me all day. It's an early morning visit so I will have him for hours on end...come evening before/or after dinner, I will be alone~all night. I figure, why should he stay? We have things that need his attention at home...and I will be in a castle with people who are getting paid to take care of me.
Of course, first thing in the morning after things have been taken care of...he will return for the day until my probable release that day.
Does anyone think I am crazy? I think I'd rather sleep and be alone. He will be there the whole week afterwards waiting on me~and taking care of the rest of the household. He'll also be more than happy to get up with me in the middle of the night...but the castle is for the PP and not necessarily for a DH.
Thanks~some nervous energy creeping out too!!
As I've read, the waiting is the hardest part.

I think that's a good decision, to send hubby home for a good night's rest.
You will be tired and sleep a lot after surgery. He'll be well rested to wait on you hand, foot, and mouth, lol. Does he cook well or do you have some frozen meals for him to heat up? Good luck, hope all goes well for you.

My DH stayed with me because I was feeling needy, but I wish I had sent him home. The "bed" for him was not great and between the nurses and my fitful attempts at sleep, he was not at all well rested. I feel bad now that I asked him to remain.

Summerstar Ithink thats what DH is going to do with me too. Unless I need him he will stay of course. But we have 3 teenagers and if I am going to be dooped up and out of it I figure he can come home around 10pm and get some sleep and make sure the kids don't miss their rides or buses. Besides Ithink the kids will be more comfortable with him home because they know he would never leave my side if I wasn't ok.

DH is the cook of the house...so I'm set. I do the cleaning...it works out perfectly for us!
I do cook too but he's much better than I! He's the BBQ KING!
I bake...desserts
Thanks!! I think it will be the best decision too!

I was alone all night and I'm very glad I was. Hubby would not have slept and I needed him more in the daytime to help me with my food trays, etc.

Plus, really, all you do is sleep for the most part and things really quiet down for the night. The night nurse will usually come in and check on you once or twice (mine waited for me to call her so she wouldn't wake me..what a sweetheart). I had a very positive experience at my hospital and I hated to go home! Honest! I can say that they really did treat me like a princess! I only hope all of you can have the experience like I have had.

This is my 4th abdominal surgery. I told my husband to be with me during recovery. My first surgery I kept forgetting to breathe and an alarm would go off and I would yell to the nurses, "I am breathing!"

Well my biggest anxiety is what if the alarm is not functioning? So I asked my husband to stay with me during the entire recovery. Then if everything is ok, I told him to go home for the remainder of the stay (a whole 2 days). I am sure he will stop in now and then. Now if I have any complications or anything else he will come but with my myomecotmy, all I wanted to do was rest!

So I hope that I have no complications and he can work and be with the kids.

So I think your plan just may work.

Well, being single, I can say that I was not only alone at the hospital at night, but for the majority of the time at home too.

In my opinion, your husband is better off (as are you) if he goes home to sleep. He will get zero sleep in the hospital with the noise and everyone coming in and out of your room to check on you every few hours. If he sleeps at home, he will be better rested in order to pamper you when you get home.

My Dh and DD were with me the day of surgery, but went home to rest that night..I was in and out of dopey sleep anyway till around12am..then woke up somewhat, but if Dh had stayed he would be snoring like an ole bear, driving me nuts! ANd We didnt want our 17yrold DD to spend the night alone..I slept off and on that night they came back around lunch time and stayed all day with me, till around 8:30 and left again.
Dh went to work that day, go off went home to get our DD and picked me up to go home! worked out fine.
Good luck to you!, You will do just fine!

I figure I'll have DH go home. From previous surgeries, I know that I feel like entertaining even him, so I'll want the rest. Plus we have two teenagers who don't drive and will need him. I wouldn't rest if I knew they were alone!
