Pre-op And Nervous And Have Some Questions

i am so nervous about my hysterectomy coming up soon...i just wanted to know what to expect as soon as i get to the hospital...are they going to give me some kind of sedative to calm down any anxiety i may experiencing?? i am having bladder and rectal repair done also for a cystocele and rectocele...will this impact my recovery from a normal hysterectomy in any way?? maybe make for a longer recovery or should i expect to feel more pain afterwards due to having three procedures done?? also another concern i have is dealing with the pain issue....i can't stand to be in pain...i currently am a patient with a pain management doctor for a herniated disc and radicuopathy in one arm...have alot of pain with that sometimes...he prescribed me norco 10/325 and was wondering what type of pain medications are given post op as if anything less than what i am taking now is given i am wondering if it will even be effective because sooner or later i am going to have to either take something else or get more injections because the medication i take now is seeming to become less effective as is the problem when you gain a tolerance...i hate to ask my doctor about this because i do not want him to think i just want stronger narcotics but am afraid it may not alleviate any serious pain i may have as my body has adjusted to the norco to some degree....hope everyone understands and i am not judged as concerned with the pain medication issue...just wondering if this is something i should mention to him and also do not want to take more medication to relieve pain when something stronger may work better and longer as i do not want to take too much acetaminophen...a big conern to me....please advise...look forward to hearing any comments

Welcome to the site. I will be having my surgery in just two days and understand your fears, but you should be discussing your concerns with your doctor.

You should have a pre-op prior to your surgery where you will go over all the drugs that you are taking because the anesthesiologist will need to know.
