Big black hole?

Ok... Seriously, I know it's not a big black hole up there but... I had a TAH, I know I have no uterus and no cervix and they "built a wall" up THERE, but I didn't think to ask what is THERE now? I'm 4 weeks post op and don't see my surgeon till June 27th. I have googled for hours and can't find the info that I want anywhere. What is left? When I am recovered and I can start thinking about actually having sex, will it be the same for me or for my DH? Will he be able to notice a difference... Like a big black hole? Again, in reality I know it's not a big black hole but hopefully you get my drift! Hope everyone is doing well!

Re: Big black hole?

Most people don't realize how tightly our organs are packed into our bodies. Your remaining organs just have a little more space and easily fill it. A normal uterus weight 70-80g (2.5 oz or so). It's smaller than your fist. Something like 1x2x3 inches. If your uterus was enlarged, it was pushing against your other organs and maybe even giving you a large belly. In that case, it can feel a bit odd as everything settles back into its original, non-compressed location.

The top of your vagina, where the cervix used to be, was sewn shut. It's like the toe of a tube sock. That's called the vaginal cuff. (Weird name since there isn't anything that I associate with a cuff.)

A finger can feel the difference in a cervix and a vaginal cuff. Some men can feel the difference during intercourse, but most can't. Some women say that sex is different; for others it's the same or better.

Neither DH nor I notice any difference - other than I'm not in pain, not bleeding constantly, not cranky and am a lot more interested in sex!

Re: Big black hole?

Just wanted to let you know that neither my DH or I noticed any difference in my "modified lady parts". Everything worked just as it should - better even

Take care (((((Hugs)))))
