What holds the vagina in place after the uterus (including cervix) is removed?

Okay so this may be a very dumb question, and typically I am a very pro active person and I ask a bazillion questions prior to anything but I never thought of this one until right after surgery and haven't had the chance to ask my surgeon yet. I will ask her when I see her at 4 weeks but until then I will rely on my "sisters"!
Okay so I had a TVH, including my cervix, but they left my Fallopian tubes and ovaries. So my question is... How does the vagina stay in now? Before it was attached to the cervix and then uterus but now that those aren't there what holds it in there? I'm so scared to cough or really do anything (I'm 6 days post op and feel pretty darn good). I'm scared that when everything is back to normal and maybe if I have a tough BM in the future (sorry for the tmi!) and I may have to strain what is holding in the vagina? Is it pinned up?

Thanks ladies!!

Oh yea I know about the vaginal cuff but doesn't that just seal off the top of the "tube"? What actually holds it all up... Gravity makes other lady bits sag!!!

Re: Stupid question alert!!!

They see it up to ligaments and the places that held everything up there to begin with.

Re: Stupid question alert!!!

What lesarapp said. The surgeon takes some of the ligaments that used to hold your uterus up and attaches them to the vaginal cuff. I had my hysterectomy more than three years ago. Nothing has fallen out. :-)

Not a stupid question at all!
Yes! The surgeon sews the ligaments to the vagina to support it. At least the cardinal & uterosacral ligaments. There are two others I think, but can't think at the moment.
I'm the geek that asked very specific questions about the surgery. (I admit to also finding and watching an awesome video series on a TAH similar to mine... Post surgery of course!)

It's called a sacrospinous ligament suspension. You can google this (or another term is vaginal vault suspension). I had this done.
