swelly belly?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but yes, its normal and I'll let you know when mine disappears. I'm 9wks post op & still can't see my incision due to swelling. It has gotten better after about week 4 or 5 but still can't fit into most of my presurgery pants. I've started walking 2 miles a day (which you shouldn't not do until you've recieved ok from Dr.) so I'm hoping that will help but my Dr. said it could last anywhere from 6 months to a year.

thanks for the info....it helps knowing it is "normal"! I went for my 2 week post op visit & my Dr said I should be walking... the weather here was beautiful today so I took advantage of it.. I'm sure I will sleep like a baby tonight!

Walking is good but please don't overdo - you are still early & don't want to injure yourself. I just got back from my walk & it felt good but having a hot flash now so am sweating - ugh

floola

My tummy was so swollen I couldn't even see my feet! As for how long it will last, everyone is different, I'm afraid. Recovery-wise it's still very early days for you, so make sure you rest as much as possible; this will also help with the swelly belly as over-doing things can make it worse.

It will get better but everything takes time with this surgery. Take care!
