Depressed! One year post-TAH (endo patient)
Hi, I had my 1 year anniversary of my TAH yesterday and I have been depressed for the past year and can't seem to come to terms with it. I am 33 years old, married and do not have any children. I had planned to have children but had to have an emergency TAH due to endo had grown through my colon. Only 6 months after I had part of my colon removed, I was informed that the endo was back and surgery was needed immediately. I finally realized that I'm dealing with severe depression and should see a therapist for help. Thank god for this website, it helps me realize that I'm not alone and there are so many other women out there with my same issues.

Depressed! One year post-TAH (endo patient)
I am going to have my one year anniversary tomorrow. I am so glad to see your post. I know that sounds bad, but for the last year I have had on and off depression. I am not on HRT due to concerns with my family history of breast cancer. The last couple of weeks, I have been battling fatigue on a wide scale. Along with that I am also dealing with some depression because of having seemed to regress back to my post-op state. I haven't been this tired since the 2nd month post-op. I know that 1 year is supposed to be the time that I should be back to normal, but I'm not. I guess my ramble is simply to support you and to let you know that you aren't alone! Just my

Hi Rivercitychick
I am so sorry that you are still feeling bad, it must be so difficult for you to deal with.
I am older than you & don't have children, spent too long working on a career, but there are other options than having children yourself. You can foster or adopt or, like me, you can choose to be the best Aunty to my sister's children, my god children & the many children of my friends. There are also church & community groups that involve children that would always welcome a hand.
I appreciate that these do not fill the empty hole in your heart but they help me. Maybe there is something out there to help you too.
I am a great believer that what doesn't break us makes us stronger. Just don't let yourself break :-)

I too had a sudden hyst. My doc did try a few meds on me first but the endo only got worse. I am very sorry to hear that you are going through this. I continue to pray everyday that someone will find a cure to endo. There are so many women suffering from it. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone. I have met some wonderful women on this website. Keep your head up and try your hardest to stay positive.

Dear RivercityChic,
You are not alone. I am sorry for what you've gone through and I know it seems so unfair.
We tried for years to have children not realizing that my body couldn't handle it. When I finally got the news from the dr that I wouldn't be able to have children I spiraled into a deep depression. I had built it up so much in my mind that I felt like a failure not being able to be a Mom.
I finally went to a therapist who helped me immensely to stand back and see the big picture.
As one of our other sisters mentioned there are options, although I know you don't want to hear that right now. I too am blessed with other children in my life.
Its a long road to recover emotionally, I think more than physically. Be kind to yourself, realize that this has changed how you thought your life would be, however, you need to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I urge you to go and speak to a therapist, someone who is not involved in the situation.
((hugs))
