Position

Okay - this was probably a question I should of asked my doctor but with everything else on my mind - I forgot.

What position are you in for the Da Vinci hysterectomy during the procedure? I hear your slanted so that your head is lower than your pelvis, true??

My blood pressure tends to run low and I'm just concerned this will make it even lower causing a transfusion....my surgery is tomorrow - I'm already ont eh clear liquid diet and anxiously awaiting my bowel prep after work (can you sense the sarcasm!?).

The butterflies in my tummy started last night - I wasn't able to sleep last night - can't imagine how tonight will be....maybe a sleeping pill?

I'm excited to be on the other side though!

Re: Position

I had a Da Vinci and per the gyn/ onc you are placed in trendelenburg, which means your feet are above your head. Remember that there is a an anesthesiologist, your surgeon and maybe a resident keeping track of you. Also, they do a trial of that position before they start the surgery. Good luck during the surgery and the post op.

Re: Position

I would ask the doctors tomorrow before the surgery. discuss your concerns. The day of my surgery I had thought of questions about medications and I was glad I brought it up. they had not put in that I was allergic to morphine and were planning on giving it to me. Had to re-adjust their planning. I will be thinking of you and putting you in my prayers. Here's hoping for a speedy and easy recovery.
