Upcoming hysterectomy 12/11: I'm getting cold feet - what if I end up with a different set of fatigue issues?

I'm getting cold feet. When I was there for my pre op the surgeon said that my hemocrit numbers didn't look so bad & that maybe the surgery would not take care of all of my fatigue. However my bleeding is so heavy, that it must a a large part of the problem. TLH is still his recommendation & what I've decided to do after research & trying lots of less drastic measures, but what if I end up with a different set of fatigue issues? At what point does the fatigue get better?

I am right there with you karencrane regarding wondering if my fatigue levels will improve. I've battled fatigue issues and weight gain for 4+ years and tried lots of different things. I only had bleeding issues the last 8 months ago with a continual period since 8/1. I had a 36 hour break after a D&C in late October.

I had my LAVH on 12/8 just because I was so **** tired of buying tampons! One less thing to deal with. I am hoping things get better now.

Wishing the same for you!

Hello,

From my own experience with anemia I know blood values can fluctuate on any given day. Reflecting on my journey I am thankful for renewed good health. I feel great and truly realize how bad things were before surgery.

I was gentle with myself during recovery and was told to continue my iron pills for 5/6 months post op. At this point I began to feel better. I could exercise and not feel like a block pushing myself to keep up. I increased my exercise and made healthy eating choices. I feel like I'm back in the game.

I wish you all the best in finding the right decisions for your own journey. Good luck

Well, you are fatigued now, correct? Your fatigue (once you heal of course) will most likely not be any worse. In fact it could get somewhat better, or even mostly disappear! Also, your bleeding issues will definitely improve! So you certainly at least have that to look forward to. Focus on that. That you won't have all that heavy bleeding a anymore! Best of luck!
