Most doctors don't belong to the AMA and the AMA does not discipline doctors last I knew . Report the incident to the state medical licensing board in your state capital. You can do an on-line search for the board and get their phone number and instructions on how to conduct the complaint.

I am so sorry this doctor was so awful, but they all aren't. Find out from others who they like and why. If you know any medical employees also ask them.

In (some) fairness to the doctor, he doesn't read the PAP results- that needs to be sent to a pathology lab so he could give you the results. Also, the frequency of the bleeding you have IS relevant even though the flow is not heavy. You might want to start with an internist/ general practice doctor. Some patients seem to go directly to a gynecologist who is limited in what he/she can do, and the problem isn't always gyn related. BUT the doctor should have said: I don't think there's anything wrong with you from my standpoint, but try seeing another specialist such as....

In my opinion the patient always knows that something is wrong and a good doctor listens to those patient signals. Look for the right doc to get to the bottom of your problem. Best wishes

hi

In my experiance the AMA is the place to call. I have been a nurse for a very long time, plus have 3 uncles who are doctors. I would skip the middle man and go to the top, the AMA, good luck and please dont give up, carol

Wow!

Sounds like you have a real jerk there! Listen, I highly recommend you go buy the book by Fran Drescher (The Nanny) called "Cancer Schmancer". I'm sure you don't have cancer, but when you read how horribly she was treated by 10 different doctors before they finally found out it was uterine cancer (hysterectomy and she's 100% cured!) you'll understand why we have to be diligent in our own medical care. She suffered for years.

Have you had a D & C? Because that seems to be what FINALLY saver her life. Please....go get the book. Even if you're not a "reader", you'll be hooked in the first page and won't put it down. She's as comical in the book as she is in her sitcom, which makes it a nice read too.

I recommend it to all my friends, whether they have gyno problems or not. Good luck to you.

Hi Tammy, first off I am sending you big hugs. You should be proud that you went out to get the help you needed! Stand tall girl and dont let an <Administrator's note: Hyster Sisters site is PG rated: do not attempt to bypass the censor...Thanks> get the best of you! (Scuse the language, it is much better than the words floating in my brain right now!)

I went to a lady gyn here, she asked me to disrobe, in front of her, with no drape or gown, and then proceeded to tell me that my menstrual cramps were from IBS. I did not ever go back. I told my own GP about it, and he dealt with it. I am in a smaller city with about 15,000 people, and we have two gyns. If we didnt and she was the only one, I would go out of town.

I am dumbfounded that a doctor can treat a patient this way but I suppose it can happen. I had a doctor yell at my son when he was 3. He froze my sons face to put stitches in, and my son was crying. Go figure.... He yelled at this poor scared little boy to "Shut your mouth!" I was absolutely dumbfounded, and by NOT dealing with it then, it still burns me up!

Take care, find a new doctor, in the yellow pages if you have to, call the hospital and ask for a referal, call the AMA and ask, there are many places to find referrals. Ask your family doctor! There has to be a decent doctor somewhere down there in Florida!!

Hugs
Kat
