Ovarian cancer in 1984

Since I was only 20 at the time, it was decided for me to leave 1/2 of an ovary and my uterus. I've been on Depo Provera for 6 years due to irregular cycles. After expereincing some pain during Christmas, my OB/GYN suggested that I go ahead and have everything removed. He indicated that there was no research to indicate whether I would be more at risk than enyone else. Any suggestions on whether it's a good idea to have everything removed as a precaution?

I am not familiar with ovarian cancer. Have you tried posting this on the cancer concerns board? The ladies there have a vast knowledge of cancer issues.
