Intimacy Question

I am not allowed to post a question in the intimacy forum for some reason so I will try it here. I am 7 weeks post-op...healing great, feeling strong. I had a TAH and both ovaries were taken but my sex drive is still normal and I have been able to achieve orgasm with my husband manually. We are still enjoying ourselves but he is unable to penetrate me more than an inch or two because it hurts. We use plenty of lubrication and he is very gentle. Is this normal??? And if so, how long will it last? Has anyone else had this problem? It seems he is able to penetrate a small amout more each time but the pain is still there.

Re: Intimacy Question

From what I've read, there may still be some swelling inside, especially with cervix removal. You may call your dr to check. Have you been cleared for sex yet? I was just cleared on Friday at almost 8 weeks. Once you are cleared, lubes can help things down there be a little more comfortable.

Re: Intimacy Question

The intimacy forum is for women with sexual dysfunction after hysterectomy. Because it takes a while for our bodies to recover (6-12 months for complete recovery) women who are 6 months+ post op can post on the intimacy forum.

7 weeks is very early post op. Has your doctor cleared you for sex? Did he do an internal exam? It is normal for things to be "different" post op. There may be some pain, discomfort, spotting, etc. for the first few times. It sounds like your muscles may be tensing up inside. Are you nervous it will hurt? I think you should book an appointment with your doctor and get checked just to be sure everything is healing well.

Re: Intimacy Question

Yes, I was cleared for sex. I had an internal exam done at 5 weeks post-op and was told everything looked good but she told me to wait another week (at 6 weeks). She said I was healing like I was 7 weeks along.
We will give it another couple of weeks and just take things very slow. I don't believe I am tense or nervous but who knows what things go on in our minds!
Thanks!

Re: Intimacy Question

Sounds like everything should be fine inside then

Maybe decide between the two of you that you're just going to "play around" and not actually have sex. Once that pressure to "do it" is taken away maybe it'll be better for you. Then when you can't hold back anymore, go for it!
