5 days post hysterectomy: Cramping BAD after a lil walk

My DvTH, BSO was last Wed 3/11. Everything I've read encourages walking. I've been lucky and feeling really good, so today, since it was BEAUTIFUL outside, I thought I would walk to the end of my street and back (we live in the middle, so it's not far what I'm talking about). I've been walking around my house just fine, so I thought I could handle a bit more and that the sunshine would be good for my spirits!

Well ... I think I over did it! About 30 mins after getting home I start cramping something FIERCE! I've now been on the heating pad for 7 hours and am STILL cramping bad even after a couple pain pills.

Should I be worried that I mesed something up?!?! I'm kinda nervous!

Are you sure it is cramping or muscle spasms. You could have done too much if you are not used to walking that much. I did 5 mins every coupe hours for the first week.

The way I would describe the pain would be "cramping." As far as if I am actually cramping or having a muscle spasm, I dunno. Now, I will say that this "cramping" pain is exactly what I had in the hospital right after my surgery.... Not sure if that helps or not.

I think if you are having pain that bad you should give your doctor a call in the morning or tonight if it worsens or you begin bleeding more than spotting. We shouldn't have bad pain that isn't controlled by pain meds.

You probably haven't messed anything up..... your body is more than likely just trying to tell you to take it easy. You are very early into your recovery and a hysterectomy is a major surgical procedure. Six days into my healing, I was spending most of my time lying on the couch watching TV and I would get up on regular intervals and walk around the house only. Give yourself time because time is what heals.

I agree that it's doubtful you messed anything up, as it was a short walk. I am thinking that it was maybe the jarring on your body from being on the pavement, rather than the more forgiving floors in your house? It helps to wear really cushy shoes (I wore havaianas flip flops and believe it or not, they were great, better than gym shoes). Or wear supportive panties until your body heals a bit more
