feeling afraid and reluctant

Hi everyone! I'm new to this and so hope this gets posted.
Last year I was informed by my gyn/ob that I need a complete
hysterectomy. Everything must go kind of surgery. I cried for a week then decided it's just a new chapter in my life. I tried progesterone therapy to get my periods to behave. I got really messed up emotional wise. I refused to take anymore. Well, it's been almost a year since I learned about my situation. As of today
I have realized I've put this off for tooo long!!!
I am so afraid of the surgery, hormone therapy for the rest of my life and recovery. My husband is going nuts having to endure my horrible long periods. He is encouraging me to do this now!
I have a prolapsed uterus and bladder. Things are getting pretty messy. I plan on calling my ob/gyn asap. Monday Nov.19th to get this thing going and hopefully over with.
Could someone tell me about TAH and having the bladder put back where it was intended to be? I feel like I'll never be the same, after having my ovaries removed and put on hormone therapy. I love this website. I was more informed by reading stories, testimonies and such, then anyother website. Thank you for being here!

It Will Be Okay

Dear ImabirdWatcher,
Welcome to the group. I would like to say I understand how you feel, being scared & also perhaps fruestrated. But the good thing is that you want to feel better. I'm happy that you've decided to give your doctor a call, and please make sure you have your doctor explain everything too you regarding the surgery so that will ease your mind & make you feel more comfortable. I myself had expereinced so much pain & bleeding for years & decided I had to do something, I was miserable. But now I can say that I feel soo much better since I had TAH/BSO which yes my ovaries were removed due to cancer in my family, and not only that but my ovaries weren't functioning well due too me having Endo. But by me coming too this site & meeting other women, reading & posting, they really gave me alot of support & also I was able too develop friendships. Please know that we're here for you and know that you're not alone. Feel free to join us in chat and many other women will be able to also answer any questions you may have. Please keep us posted on what's going on & I'll keep you in my prayers. Here's a BIG

Bird Watcher

I had a TAH on 8/27. I kept my ovaries though. When I came home I felt wonderful, so wonderful that I kept overdoing it.

Physically my recouperation has been fine. Although by the 3rd or 4th week I understood why the word "coup" is in there.
The hormonal issue is something I will have to work on. I will be calling my doctor about that one.

If you decide to have the surgery you won't regret it. I don't!

Good luck and let us know.
