Upcoming hysterectomy 3/23: Countdown in Five

My surgery is scheduled for 3/23. Although I am not especially nervous about the procedure, I am a tad bit anxious about life after. My enlarged uterus, fibroids, crazy weight gain, and chronic anemia have changed my body into an uncomfortable and unrecognizable shell. I know the change won't be instantaneous; I still look forward to the day when I walk without pain, wear white pants, and see myself in the mirror again. I am thankful for this site and the members because no one that i know truly understands how stressful adenmyosis and all its woes are.

Upcoming hysterectomy 3/23: Countdown in Five

I've already had my surgery (3/8) and share your anxiety about the future. For some reason I felt a sense of calm though right before the surgery date as if I was being comforted and told that I chose the right timing from up above. I'll never know if I avoided any diagnosis which might have been delayed for whatever reason instead of surgery having been done prior to any real damage. I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have surgery healthy instead of having been under duress of any cancer diagnosis. Especially given I had no idea the extent of cancer in my family until I filled out family history including my mother's 8 siblings and my cousins etc. try to find some solace in knowing things happen for a reason and even if recovery at first proves difficult, it may be less than another outcome.

My surgery is 3/22 and I have a few jitters, but like you am Just happy that I will one day wear jeans, not deal with extreme pain and month long bleeding. How exciting???

Hang in there and get prepared!!!!!!! I support you.

Same date as me!

I've been joking that I'm going to buy white capri pants and maybe roller-skates (as per Bodyform adverts of the 90s ) no fear of leaking any more.

We shall catch up for a coffee in the dream world of anaesthetics whilst our lady parts get a detailing.

Take care.

Same date as me. I like the coffee date, sounds like a grand plan ☺. The only thing that I don't like is having to be at the hospital at 6am for 8am surgery. I am not a morning person and usually don't get to bed until 3 -4 am, i work best in the evening hrs when the rest of half the world is asleep.

I completely agree. I have had so many wrong diagnoses and postponed procedures that I had almost given up. But I am a fighter and giving up definitely came to me; however, I couldn't even if I tried because I know that I am not fighting alone. Thank you for your sweet response; I needed it and it made a difference.
