Re: sex before check-up

If you feel ok than good for you. I was wondering when sex is safe myself. I mean if nothing is hurting you why would it not be ok? Does anyone know what time frame is considered to be or around when sex is safe?
I can not wait to get our normal sex life back. Our sex life (mine and hubbies) has not been normal for the past year due to my excessive bleeding and clotting and plain old feeling gross all the time. No bleeding since day of surgery so I am seeing the light.
I am sure it is fine that you had sex. It sounds like your recovering just fine....

Re: sex before check-up

I'm really not sure, I am anxious to test drive it too... The past year has been a nightmare because of pain/bleeding issues, so I can't wait to try it without those to cause trouble. I assume if you are not bleeding and it didn't hurt you are OK but one reason they want you to wait is because of possible infection and also they want to check and make sure your cuff is healed.

Re: sex before check-up

hi,went to my dr at 8 days after my tah and was surprised to hear that i could have a bath, use a hot tub and go swimming but no driving(till 2 weeks) and no sex(till 5 or 6 weeks) i think it is a precautionary for infections? maybe mention to your dr what you did and ask if he thinks you should go on some antibiotics? good luck you naughty girl!

Re: sex before check-up

NO WAY! I'm still waiting for bath clearance and I don't get to see my doctor for three more weeks! No 6 week check up for me, didn't get an appointment until week 8. Good for you!

Re: sex before check-up

You aren't the first woman to experience intimacy before she was released by her doctor and I'm sure you won't be the last but it is very important to follow your doctor's instructions for your post-op care and the best thing to do is give your doctor a call and let him/her know so you can make sure no damage was done. You might find the Post-Op Article, Sex After Hysterectomy - Do I Really Have to Wait Six Weeks? interesting.

Be sure to call your doctor and let us know how you're doing. Ok?

Re: sex before check-up

For what it's worth I was actually told in the hospital to have sex before my 6 week follow up so if there are any immediate problems I can mention it then!!
Only 9 days post op it's not exactly a priority for me at the moment but thought I would share the advice I got

Re: sex before check-up

I would LOVE to have sex again! I am no stranger to having to go without as my husband is a soldier and I have dealt with 12 and 15 month long deployments however he was gone the temptation wasn't there as for now he is here with me. However the doctor made him promise nothing in my vagina for 6 weeks....of course he cracked jokes asking about other holes however 6 weeks is what we are waiting I don't want to risk any set backs in recovery.
